USC up next AT UCLA Saturday, 4:30 p.m., Pauley Pavilion, Prime Ticket: Before the season started, it seemed reasonable to think that the Trojans would be hovering around .500 and UCLA would be rounding into form going into the first meeting between the crosstown rivals. But just the opposite has occurred, with the Bruins struggling to overcome recent early defections to the NBA and USC establishing itself as one of the biggest surprises in the Pacific 10 Conference. Not that a victory over UCLA would do much for the Trojans' postseason chances.

USC running back Stafon Johnson, who had his larynx crushed in a weightlifting accident early in the season, has accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl. USC beats Boston College 24-13 in Emerald Bowl
Southern California ended a disappointing season with a bowl win that the Trojans hope will vault them into a more successful 2010. Matt Barkley threw touchdown passes to Stanley Havili on Southern California's first two possessions and added a touchdown run in the fourth quarter to help the Trojans beat Boston College 24-13 in the Emerald Bowl on Saturday night.
