USC stripped of 2004 Grantland Rice Trophy

| Southern California has been stripped of the 2004 Grantland Rice Trophy, which is awarded by the Football Writers Association of America to the nation's top college football team. The organization said Thursday that a committee of current and former officers voted to revoke the honor after USC was penalized for NCAA violations. |

Texas and USC schedule games for 2017 and 2018

| Texas and Southern California, who last met in the Rose Bowl in 2006, have scheduled games in 2017 and 2018. The Longhorns will travel to Los Angeles in 2017 with the Trojans going to Austin the next year. Texas beat the Trojans 41-38 in the 2005 season BCS championship game to claim the Longhorns' first undisputed national championship since 1969. |

USC's Jurrell Casey pushes adversity to the side

Casey, a junior defensive tackle who is considered a future first-round draft pick, had to assume a larger role in his family after his older brother was convicted of murder.
Jurrell Casey has been a starter at USC only one season, but the junior defensive tackle from Long Beach is projected by several NFL draft prognosticators as a first-round pick next April.

Former Miami receiver transfers to USC

| Former Miami reciever Thearon Collier arrived on Southern California's campus Saturday after transferring to the school. The 5-foot-9 Collier will have to sit out this season per NCAA transfer rules and will be a junior when he is eligible next fall. In two seasons with the Hurricanes, he caught 44 passes for 574 yards and three touchdowns and returned 20 punts for 158 yards and two touchdowns. |

USC frosh Wright, Scroggins not cleared to play

| Southern California freshmen Demetrius Wright and Jesse Scroggins still haven't been rule eligible by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Wright, a cornerback, and Scroggins, a quarterback, were allowed to practice with the team for 14 days while their paperwork was under review, but USC coach Lane Kiffin said after Friday morning's practice that the two were sent home until they qualified. |

Thompsett, released his client's appeal Tuesday. McNair claims the committee on infractions used false statements and faulty evidence against him. |
