Manny era in Los Angeles comes to a close quietly
|
| Manny Ramirez captivated Los Angeles when he arrived two years ago, lifting the Dodgers into the playoffs and beguiling the fans with his dreadlocks, his smile and his big swing. It all ended Monday when the Chicago White Sox claimed the slugger on waivers from the Dodgers, who received nothing in return. |

Dodgers Team Report
|
| Manny Ramirez went to the White Sox in a straight waiver claim, and he is expected to join his new team Tuesday in Cleveland.
The White Sox will owe Ramirez approximately $4 million for the remainder of the year, and the slugger will become a free agent following the season.
Ramirez played superbly the last time he changed teams in season, hitting .396 with 17 homers and 53 RBI in 53 games for Los Angeles in 2008. He subsequently signed a two-year, $45 million deal with the Dodgers, and his production dropped. Due in part to injuries and a drug suspension, Ramirez played a combined 170 games for the Dodgers in 2009-10, hitting .297 with 27 homers and 103 RBI. In what was likely Ramirez's final appearance in a Dodgers uniform, he saw one pitch, took it for a called... |

Padres Team Report
|
| Was it a bump in the road or a sign of trouble?
As injuries became an issue over the weekend, the Padres were swept at home by the Phillies to suffer their first four-game losing streak of the season. Before the Phillies came to Petco Park, the Padres had suffered only one three-game losing streak this season and were 14-1 in games after they had lost two straight.
Throw those numbers out the window. And now the Padres head to Phoenix for three games against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field, where the Padres are 2-4 this season continuing their historical run of having problems (36-73) in Phoenix.
A bigger concern than the losses, however, are the injuries the Padres have suffered as they approach the final month of the season.

Angels Team Report
|
| The murky business of the waiver wire has become the workplace of Angels general manager Tony Reagins.
Two days after trading closer Brian Fuentes when he was claimed on waivers by the Minnesota Twins, reports surfaced (first on FOXSports.com) that catcher-first baseman Mike Napoli had been placed on waivers and, according to various reports, claimed by the Boston Red Sox.
Napoli, 28, shrugged off questions about his future but he was not in the lineup Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles. Reagins met behind closed doors with manager Mike Scioscia before Sunday's game. "I think Tony is very active in knowing the movement of players and what players are coveted," Scioscia said, deferring questions about Napoli's status and the difficult decisions the Angels are... |

Dodgers hit the eject button on Manny Ramirez
|
The formerly beloved, now out-of-favor slugger will be shipped to the Chicago White Sox in a waiver deal Monday, according to multiple sources. In his last official act as a Dodger, he is kicked out while pinch-hitting Sunday against Rockies — after seeing only one pitch.
Manny Ramirez saw one pitch in his sixth-inning pinch-hit appearance during the Dodgers' 10-5 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.
